At the Lass O’Richmond Hill, we removed the last vestiges of the former branding of this pub to transform it into a more intimate and comfortable community hub. Bulky brickwork was pared back revealing a more elegant structure underneath and increasing the feeling of space in the trade areas and around the bar counter as well. New lighting adds twinkle and atmosphere to the spaces and the series of small rooms to the side were reconfigured to enhance the flow and flex of the restaurant spaces. We are very pleased to know that it is continuously gaining traction with the locals as well as succeeding as a destination pub.

Kirk Nolan have completed a remodel of The Shaftesbury in Richmond for Youngs & Co. The pub & restaurant is located on the approach to Kew Gardens, which provided befitting influence for the interior design style and artwork selection. A significant proportion of the project included a redevelopment of the enclosed garden to provide a glazed pergola to provide for year-round use.

The understated ambience has created a relaxed pub & restaurant that is enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike.

Kirk Nolan was recently appointed by Mango Tree to extend Chai Wu in Harrods to increase the footprint of the restaurant by converting adjacent retail space. The number of covers has been doubled whilst retaining the intimate atmosphere of the original restaurant by creating dining alcoves that transition between restaurant and private dining spaces.

While continuing the original interior design scheme that is based on the five signs of Chinese philosophy; wood, metal, water, earth and fire, Kirk Nolan have introduced subtle new finishes and bespoke artwork to enhance the scheme without overshadowing the timeless and minimal style of the original restaurant.

The new mural artwork features cranes which are highly respected as the prince of all featured creatures and are symbolic of longevity, peace, and happiness.

Andrew Kirk was lead designer of the original Chai Wu restaurant in 2018 and was thrilled to be asked to continue the successful working relationship with Mango Tree.
